Calamity emergency force for each district

BHOPAL: Chief Minister Chauhan will constitute the State Calamity Emergency Force comprising of 50 to 100 guards in every district of the state. The force will tackle all kind of calamities and will be constituted from home guards. The force can be used for relief and rescue works in various kinds of calamities and will be suitably equipped. The decisions were taken in the first meeting of Calamity Management Authority here on Tuesday which is chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The meeting also endorsed provision of an institutional structure for dealing with calamities at various levels as well as State Calamity Management Policy.

The authorities present on the occasion includes Finance Minister Raghavji, Commerce and Industries Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Public Works Minister Nagendra Singh, Revenue & Rehabilitation Minister Karan Singh Verma, Home Minister Umashankar Gupta, Chief Secretary Avani Vaish, Additional Chief Secretary and Officer on Special Duty R. Parshuram, Additional Chief Secretary Home Ashok Das, Director General of Police Nandan Dube and Additional DGP Intelligence Rishi Kumar Shukla .

Chauhan said that the efforts for calamity management should be integrated and Citizens’ participation is also necessary. The calamities should be identified area-wise and proper training for relief and rescue works should be ensured said Chauhan. He said that following constitution of Calamity Emergency Force, outlines for relief and rescue works should be chalked out by ensuring participation of government departments, social workers, voluntary organisations, common people and youths. For studying about the calamities the Chief Minister said that study teams should be sent to calamity-affected areas of other states also. He said that all the equipment and methods necessary for calamity control and relief should be acquired and proper funds will be provided for the same.
