Bhopal to be Global, Green and Smart City: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said necessary infrastructure will be developed to make Bhopal Global, Green and Smart City. He said that special efforts will be made with people’s participation to make Bhopal plastic and polythene-free. Shri Chouhan was laying foundation stone of a railway over-bridge at Singarcholi railway crossing under Bhopal-Biaora Road Project here today.
The Chief Minister directed to complete construction of the bridge within a year. Bhopal-Biaora Road will be converted to 4-lane from Lal Ghati upto Airport trisection. Traffic pressure will ease between Bhopal city and airport after construction of Singarcholi over-bridge.
The Chief Minister said that apart from Global and Smart City, greenery will also be preserved in Bhopal. The dream of Smart City will be fulfilled as per directives of the Central Government. He lauded enthusiastic participation of people in Swachh Madhya Pradesh Abhiyan.
Shri Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh has carved a distinct identity in road construction in the country. Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation has taken up road construction works costing about Rs. 45 thousand crore. It is a history itself. He urged young engineers to avail benefit of Mukhyamantri Yuva Contractor Yojana and Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Yojana to become employers instead of job-seekers. He informed that PWD will impart 3-month training with Rs. 5000 stipend to desirous youths. They will be imparted academic, technical and field training. For contract, only Rs. 25 thousand will have to be deposited instead of Rs. 2 lakh and only 50 percent earnest money will have to be deposited for first contract. He informed that Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. one crore bank loan will be provided under Yuva Udyami Yojana guarantee of which will be given by the state government.
The Chief Minister said that the state government will provide technology, marketing and capital facilities to youths. Shri Chouhan said that a roadmap has been chalked out for brightening youths’ future and state’s progress. He urged people to celebrate Madhya Pradesh Foundation Day as a festival and resolve to make Madhya Pradesh prosperous.
PWD Minister Shri Sartaj Singh said that Madhya Pradesh has transformed and development is visible everywhere in the state. MP Road Development Corporation has carved a national identity. Now, even developed states are lauding Madhya Pradesh. Describing Shri Chouhan as a Chief Minister with foresight, local MLA Shri Rameshwar Sharma expressed gratitude to him for this project. Principal Secretary PWD Shri Pramod Agrawal threw light on salient features of Bhopal-Biaora Road Project. On the occasion, the Chief Minister felicitated retiring police personnel Shri Ram Naresh Pandey for discharging duty with due responsibility at the railway crossing.
Technical Education Minister Shri Umashankar Gupta, Panchayats & Rural Development Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava, Berasia MLA Shri Vishnu Khatri, MLA Shri Vishwas Sarang, Zila Panchayat President Smt. Meena Himmat Singh Goyal, MP Shri Alok Sanjar, corporator Shri Krishna Mohan Soni, Bhopal District BJP President Shri Alok Sharma, MP Road Development Corporation’s Managing Director Shri Vivek Agrawal and large number of people were present on the occasion.
The project
Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation is widening and strengthening 105.6 km long stretch of Bhopal-Biaora Road (National Highway-12) in BOT mode. The present road will be converted to 4-lane. Project’s total cost is Rs. 776.24 crore. Agreement for partnership in the project has been signed with M/s TransTroy India Limited, Hyderabad. The project will be completed in 2 years.
Provision of service road has been made for 8 villages falling under the project. As many as 7 under-passes, grade-separators, one railway over-bridge and major bridges, 10 medium bridges and 74 culverts will be constructed to ensure smooth traffic on the road.
The project envisages construction of 7.5 km long service roads in Bhopal city and 6 km long service roads in villages. A flyover will be constructed on Bhopal Bypass crossing. ROB at Singarcholi railway crossing, major bridge on Parwati river, 10 medium bridges and 74 culverts will be constructed under the project.
