Act strictly on tax evasion: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed for strict action in cases of tax evasion. He said that a scheme should be chalked out to reward people giving tip-off regarding tax evasion.

Shri Chouhan was reviewing fiscal management of the state here today. Finance Minister Shri Jayant Malaiya, Forest Minister Dr. Gaurishankar Shejwar and Revenue Minister Shri Rampal Singh were present on the occasion.

Shri Chouhan said that tax collection should be in most efficient manner. Every possibility of tax evasion should be curbed effectively. Strict action should be taken against tax evaders. Taxation should be made in such a way that tax payer’s work and business is not affected and government also does not suffer financial loss. Adequate staff should be made available for collection. He directed to deploy ex-servicemen as temporary security guards and chalk out scheme for computerised monitoring of mines. He instructed to dispose of pending mining sanctions at the earliest.

The meeting was informed that tax exemption forms of Commercial Taxes Department are being tallied with those of other states. Strict action is being taken in tax evasion cases involving Rs. 90 crore detected during tally of forms of 19 states.

During review of Registration Department, it was informed that process of data integration of the department with 19 departments is being undertaken. Work is underway on e-registration pilot project. By February 2015, entire state will have e-registration system. Mineral Resources Department informed that work to identify new mines of minor minerals has been completed in 8 districts. Work in remaining districts will be completed by the end of next month.

Directives were given to computerise Excise Department. The Chief Minister said that weekly report of progress of computerization should be sent. He directed to make legal provision for pasting hologram and undertake taxation by rectifying provisions for export of excise products.

Transport Department informed that 7 thousand permits have been issued in last 3 months after simplification of concerning provisions. Now, the process has begun to issue
e-permits. It was informed that 35 percent more power is being supplied compared to the period from August to September last year. It was directed that electricity bills should be realised and habit should be inculcated in consumers for paying bills regularly.
