Hockey Tournaments:

Abdullah Hockey Gold Cup: One of the major four hockey tournaments in India, Abdullah Hockey Gold Cup is held in May-June every year in Bhopal. Nawabs of Bhopal initiated the trophy way back in 1965, and it has been organized regularly since. The hockey event is held under the aegis of Bhopal Hockey Association (BHA).

In the tournament, as many as 18 Indian and 4 foreign hockey teams participate. Spain, Pakistan, Malaysia, Australia / Holland are the teams from abroad having taken part in the cup so far. The tournament has over the years have witnessed the making of many hockey players of national and international fame.

Akbar Rafeeq All India Tournament: Started relatively recently, just 8 years ago, this tourney is held in February-March every year. As many as 5 tournaments have been organized till date. The tournament is held main hockey stadium of the city, Aishbagh. Like Abdullah Hockey Cup, this cup as well is conducted by Bhopal Hockey Association.

COURSES OFFERED

  • Introductory course in Sailing:

This will be a 12 Days Courses with 36 hours time required to log on water excluding 10 hours of Swimming practice for non Swimmers. The training will be imparted in optimist & enterprise class. This Course will be equivalent to school level sports meet and candidates will be graded at end at the courses. The course syllabus will include:

(i) Boats & its parts.

  • Positions of sailing
  • Sail trimming
  • Launching & recovery of boats.
  • Sailing boat on a course
  • Mid level course:

This course will be a 50 days course with 150 hours of sailing log. Training will be imparted in optimist, enterprise and 420 classes. The course syllabus will include:

  • Boats, its parts & rigging
  • Position of sailing
  • Sail Trimming
  • Launching & recovery of boats
  • Knots & Hitches
  • Fundamental sailing rules
  • Sailing boat round a course
  • Racing practice

(C) Diploma course in sailing (one year):
This course will be a 100 days course with 300 hours of sailing log. Training will be imparted in optimist, enterprise, 420 7 laser class of boats. The course will include:

    • Boats, its parts & rigging
    • Position of sailing
    • Launching & recovery of boats
    • Advance seamanship including knots, hitches & wiping
    • Advance sailing rules including fleet, racing & team racing rules
    • Winning tactics
    • Tides & currents

MARTIAL ART ACADEMY

Selection Process:

  • A panel of selectors will select promising players from various parts of the Country.
  • 10 boys and 10 girls will be selected for training in the academy for the first year in each sports category.
  • In the following year the academy will select 20 players for the training in each sports category.

  • 20 players will be finally selected for a 3 year extensive training programme at the M.P. Men hockey Academy.
  • In the following year the academy will select 30 players for the specialized training
