State to carve global identity in organic farming: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the state will carve a distinct identity in organic farming not only in the country, but also world. Shri Chouhan said that it is the result of farmers hard work and awareness that Madhya Pradesh has 40 percent share in organic farming output in the country. The Chief Minister was concluding National Organic Festival at Mandla today. On the occasion, the Krishi Mahotsav from September 25 to October 20 was also declared closed. During the festival, 23 MoUs were also signed with organic producers.

Shri Chouhan said that now subsidy will also be given on green manure in the state. Besides, arrangements will be made at all Mandis for counter of organic products. He said that organic development committee will meet quarterly to boost organic production.

Mandla to have state-level Organic Research and Training Centre

The Chief Minister said that talks will be held with Seed Development Corporation to develop traditional seeds. He said that seed certification institutes will be opened at Shahdol, Indore and Jabalpur .

The Chief Minister said that exemption from Mandi Tax for 5 years will be given to investors setting up food processing plants. Shri Chouhan said that arrangements for organic products’ branding and packaging will also be made. Shri Chouhan said that animal husbandry will be promoted in the state.

4600 quintal food grains collected during Krishi Mahotsav

On the call of Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, farmers welcomed Krishi Raths and public representatives participating in Mahotsav with food grains instead of garlands and bouquets. During the Mahotsav, 4600.18 quintal food grains were collected including pulses, rice, wheat etc. These food grains will be used as nutritious diet in anganwadi centres.
