MP Congress meets to select leader of opposition

Congress has got only 66 seats in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections. In such a situation, Congress failed to form the government. BJP has made Dr. Mohan Yadav as CM in place of Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Jagdish Deora, Rajendra Shukla as Deputy CM.

Now Congress has called a meeting of the legislature party today to select the leader of opposition. The legislature party meeting will be held in PCC from 11 am. PCC Chief Kamal Nath will participate in this.

A senior Congress leader said that the reasons for the defeat in the assembly elections and the strategy for the Lok Sabha elections will be discussed in the meeting. Names will also be discussed for the selection of Leader of Opposition. However, instead of announcing the name of the Leader of Opposition, the names of the leaders contending for this post can be sent to the high command. The decision can be left to the high command.

Along with making the Chief Minister from OBC category, BJP has also made one Deputy CM each from General and Scheduled Caste category. In such a situation, Congress is considering giving the command of Leader of Opposition to the tribal MLA. However, names of Vijaypur MLA Ramniwas Rawat and OBC Congress state president and Satna MLA Siddharth Kushwaha are also in discussion as OBC faces in Congress. At the same time, as experienced leaders in parliamentary matters, former Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh “Rahul Bhaiya”, former Deputy Speaker of the Assembly and MLA from Amarpatan Rajendra Kumar Singh are also being considered internally.

His names include among the tribal leaders: Umang Singhar – nephew of former Deputy CM of MP, late Jamuna Devi and fourth time MLA from Gandhwani seat of Dhar district. National Secretary of Congress, national member of ST Congress in AICC as well as co-in-charge of Jharkhand.
