Mukhya Mantri Ladli Bahna Yojana will bring positive change in the lives of sisters: CM Chouhan

The commitment of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the betterment of sisters and daughters is continuously manifested through mind, words and deeds. The extraordinary sensitivity with which the Chief Minister Chouhan felt the difficulties and the inferiority complex in the lives of women touches the level of empathy rather than sympathy. In order to enable the sisters to meet the small needs of their daily life and meet their desires without any argument, without any hindrance and without difficulty, therefore, the Mukhyamantri Ladli Bahna Yojana was started to provide Rs.1000 per month to them. Chouhan says that “this is a plan that came out of my heart”. With this money given to the sisters, their self-esteem and self-confidence will also get a boost. Surely this amount of the scheme will be used for the welfare of the family. In a sense, this scheme is the beginning of a social revolution.

Chief Minister Chouhan had announced the implementation of Mukhyamantri Ladli Bahna Yojana in the state on January 28, 2023 on Narmada Jayanti and Narmadapuram’s Gaurav Diwas. Under the scheme, poor sisters of all classes will get Rs 1000 per month, if they are getting the benefits of other schemes, they will continue to get the same as before. The situation is that the labour force participation of women in the state is less than that of men in both rural and urban areas. This affects their economic independence and has a direct impact on their health, nutritional status and the children dependent on them and their role in the household. The announcement of Chief Minister Chouhan’s Ladli Bahna Yojana is centred on assessment of the impact of similar scheme being run for Baiga-Bharia-Sahariya sisters and its positive results.

On his birthday, March 5, Chief Minister Chouhan announced the implementation of Mukhyamantri Ladli Bahna Yojana and its programme from Bhopal’s Jamboree Ground. He said that families whose annual income is less than Rs two and a half lakh, who have less than 5 acres of land and families in which there is no income tax payer, Rs 1000 every month in the bank accounts of the sisters of such families in the age group of 23 to 60 year will be credited. Family in the scheme means husband, wife and children. Those sisters who do not have bank accounts will be helped to open their accounts.

Not only this, Chief Minister Chouhan gave a message to the sisters from every platform that they should not fall under the trap of any middleman or broker to take advantage of the scheme. The phone number 181 was issued to help the sisters out of trouble and help them.

Chief Minister Chouhan took special care that the sisters living in all the villages and wards of the state should get information about the scheme and no eligible sister should be deprived of the application. Activities were conducted in the entire state to give information through wide publicity campaign and personal contact. People’s representatives, Jan Seva Mitras, PESA mobilizes, Prasphutan Samitis of Jan Abhiyan Parishad, Antyodaya committees, women self-help groups, Swachhata Doots, Kisan Mitras, Sahyogini Matri Samitis, members of Shaurya Dal and voluntary organisations were activated to contact every eligible sister. An environment for the Yojana was created in every locality, every street through street plays, folk songs, folk dances, cultural programmes, radio jingles, hoardings, newspapers and various platforms of social media.

The Chief Minister’s appeal had a wide impact in the state. So far, more than one crore 25 lakh sisters have registered in the scheme. DBT accounts of about 91 percent women of the state who have registered have been activated. On Chouhan’s arrival in Betul, the sisters of 500 gram panchayats of the district expressed gratitude to him for starting the Ladli Bahna Yojana by presenting him a 101 feet long rakhi.

Ladli Bahnas in the state are waiting for June 10. On this day, the joy of getting money in their bank accounts will be expressed in different ways. A programme of folk songs has been organised in Tikamgarh. Kalash Yatra will be taken out in Mandsaur and Deepotsav will be celebrated. In many villages of Vidisha, the historic day of June 10 will be made memorable by distributing sweets, tying safas to women and fireworks. In almost all the districts, on June 10, sisters will express their happiness by organizing different programmes.
