Unlimited scope in journalism: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that there is unlimited scope in journalism. Shri Chouhan was addressing a cultural programme and award distribution function Pratibha 2015 held by Makhanlal Chaturvedi University of Journalism and Mass Communication here today. At the function, the Chief Minister presented Rs. 2 lakh cheque, shawl, coconut and letter of citation each for Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Award for year 2012 to senior journalist Shri Madan Mohan Joshi and 2013 to Shri Shyamlal Yadav.

Public Relations Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla and Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh university Shri A.K.D.N. Vajpayee were also present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister said that journalism has many dimensions. Role of journalism is important in democracy. It decides direction of politics. It is also social service to bring forth truth. He said that goal should also be high. There is way where is will. Referring to personalities and deeds of awardee journalists, the Chief Minister urged young journalist to draw inspiration from them. The Chief Minister said that Shri Madan Mohan Joshi has also associated himself with social concerns along with journalism. Bhopal’s cancer hospital is the result of his efforts. Congratulating Shri Shyamlal Yadav for new heights in journalism, he said that Shri Yadav has shown to the world that Right to Information exists in India. Shri Chouhan gave mantra of success to young journalists. He exhorted them to make constant efforts with patience. For achieving targets, one must have conviction and steady mind. He reminisced about his entry into politics. He motivated youths for acquiring qualities of dedicated workers. He also directed to confer awards every year. The Chief Minister also released books published by Shri Saket Dube and Shri Manoj Chaturvedi under university’s series “Sanchar Ki Bharatiya Parampara”. As head of the institution, he gave away mementoes to guests.

Awardee journalist Shri Madan Mohan Joshi said that he entered field of journalism with foundation of Madhya Pradesh. He said that journalism has immense scope of work. Journalist Shri Shyamlal Yadav said that everyone has a proper place in democracy.

Vice-chancellor Shri Brij Kishore Kuthiala announced holiday in the university on April 8 and proposed a vote of thanks.
