Teachers Not to Be Roped in Non-teaching Assignments

Teachers will not be deployed in non-teaching works from this session onwards. It is one of many decisions taken for bringing in administrative and academic reforms in school education following state level and division-wise review made by Education Minister Smt. Archana Chitnis.

For implementation of decisions at various levels, instructions were sent to Divisional Joint Directors and District Education Officers. The review has been made in the wake of dismal results of class 10 and 12 board examinations this year, for which education department came under fire from various quarters.

The other prominent decision included conducting school in one shift with its responsibility being with DEO, giving control of primary and middle schools being run on the premises of higher secondary schools to the concerning principals, and preparing integrated time table for all the schools being run the same premises.

The other decisions address academics. Now monthly evaluation system has been made more effective with a view to enhance quality of education.

Under this system, a list of poor performers will be made based on monthly test and Principals and subject teachers will analyse the list of two months to note improvement in performance. In addition, half yearly and pre-Board examinations will be held on line of Board exams.

Principals have been instructed to talk to poor performers while undertaking inspections and maintain entry of the talk in record register.

Also, a decision was taken to send subject teachers of DIET as mobile teachers for 2 to 4 days a weak in the remote area schools where teacher of any particular subject is unavailable.
