Sushma Now Sees NDA Crossing Magic Figure

Bhopal: Retracting an earlier statement, senior BJP leader and party candidate from Vidisha parliamentary constituency, Sushma Swaraj in Monday waxed confident of the NDA crossing the magic figure of 272 in the Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a press conference at the state BJP headquarters in Bhopal, Swaraj said that not only would the NDA get a majority on its own, the BJP would also emerge as the single largest party.

When asked about the number of seats that the BJP expected to win, she said that the party would grab anything between 180 to 200 seats on its own.

Specifying expected number of seats that the BJP is likely to win in three states where she is in-charge of the party poll campaign, the firebrand leader said her party could grab all the 11 seats in Chhattisgarh, all the 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh and four out of six seats in Jharkhand for which polling was held in the first phase on April 16.

Swaraj said that she was hurt at the type of language being used by leaders of some political parties during the campaign for the Lok Sabha elections.

Her statements are in stark contrast to her pronouncements earlier this month, when she had cast doubts over the NDA’s poll prospects and are largely being viewed as over-optimistic.
