Munjare Arrested for Threatening Poll Official

Bhopal: In a case of allegedly issuing threat to an election official on duty, RJD candidate from Balaghat Lok Sabha constituency Kankar Munjare has been arrested and sent to prison.

According to police, Munjare runs charges under IPC sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharging duty) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), and seeing the serious nature of the alleged offence have been denied bail by Katangi Judicial Magistrate, First Class (JMFC), S Wasnik.

Police said that Munjare has purportedly threatened Naib Tehsildar Bupendra Singh Parasthe with dire consequences while the officer along with a team was video recording Munjare’s election meeting on April 18 at Katangi market.

Officials inform that the office of district returning officer was keeping a close eye on four candidates Gaurishanker Bisen of BJP, Kishore Samrite of Samajwadi Party (SP), Balkrishna Agrawal of Gondwana Gantantra Party (GGP) and Munjare, given their track record.

Bisen, who is also BJP state minister, was booked twice for allegedly violating the model code of conduct.
