State has started process of empowering girls: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Madhya Pradesh has started the process of empowering women by chalking out welfare schemes for girls right since their birth. Other states are also replicating initiatives of Madhya Pradesh. Referring to Ladli Laxmi Yojna, Gaon Ki Beti Yojna, Pratibha Kiran Yojna and Higher Education Loan Guarantee Scheme, Shri Chouhan said that women have been empowered in the state by providing them jobs and extending cooperation and facilities to them in political sector.
The Chief Minister was addressing girl students after laying foundation stone of additional block in Government Gitanjali Girls Post-Graduate Autonomous Girls College in the city today. State Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Shri Ramesh Sharma Guttu Bhaiyya presided over the function.
Describing the Rs. 350 per student scholarship given by the college to the poor students as inadequate, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan announced to increase it to Rs. 5000 each. On the girl students’ demand, he announced construction of a sports complex in the college. Paying tributes to late Smt. Gitanjali and Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, he said that every possible cooperation will be extended for the college’s development. Shortage of teaching staff in the college will also be removed.
At the time of welcome to the Chief Minister, two girl students presented applications for treatment of their mothers. The Chief Minister directed collector Shri Nikunj Shrivastava to complete formalities for their treatment. It is noteworthy that the collector is the Chairman of Local Public Participation Committee. Shri Ramesh Sharma said that every individual in society should cooperate in girls’ educational development. He said that the State Government has chalked out maximum number of schemes for girls’ upliftment.
The Chief Minister interacted cordially with girl students and blessed them to move ahead in their lives. The Chief Minister urged the girl students to think high, have patience and move ahead in life with firm determination. He said that neither girls are short of talent nor courage and power. They can accomplish impossible tasks if given a little assistance and moral support.
College Principal Smt. Dolly Malhotra delivered the welcome address and read out progress report of the college. She informed that this college has maximum number of students in Bhopal district and division.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister gave away scholarship cheques to poor students and honoured girl students for outstanding academic performance. On behalf of the college, mementoes were presented to guests. Drawing Department head Smt. Kirti Singh presented CM’s portrait as memento to him. Sushri Mahvish Parvez read out poem “Beti Ko Aane Do”. Smt. Madhubala Verma proposed a vote of thanks. ABVP’s Zonal Organising Secretary Shri Vishnudutt Sharma was also present on the occasion. Sushri Diva Mishra conducted the programme.
