Delhi HC Turns down ND Tiwari’s Plea over Paternity Suit

The Delhi High Court has turned down the petition moved by former Andhra Pradesh Governor ND Tiwari challenging the paternity suit filed by a youth who claims to be his son, reported IANS.

Providing relief to 34-year-old Rohit Shekhar, a bench comprising Justices Vikramjit Sen and Manmohan Singh rejected Tiwari’s application, saying that ample evidence existed to prove the jurisdiction of the court, said report.

Sekhar’s counsel PS Patwali contended that Tiwari’s denial in accepting him as his son resulted in moving the court, said report.

Shekhar said in his petition that Tiwari started ignoring him and his mother Ujjawala Sharma after 1995 and declined to meet him at Tiwari’s residence in Delhi and in Uttaranchal when he became chief minister.

Tiwari’s five-decade-old political career came to a virtual end after a news channel showed clippings of an elderly man purported to be the 86-year-old Tiwari with three young women in bed last year.

A few days later, Tiwari resigned as the Andhra Pradesh governor citing health grounds.
