Samira’s Mother Doesn’t Recognise Daughter
Bhopal — Deposing before the district court in the fake passport case Hamida Jumani – mother of Samira, the ‘wife’ of underworld don Abu Salem – refused to recognize the photograph of her daughter.
Hamida, who had come to the city from Mumbai, told the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate MP Tiwari that Samira has been missing since 1991 and that she was not aware of her whereabouts.
In her statement, Hamida said she had filed a missing person complaint with the Mumbai police soon after Samira went missing, but added that she could not pursue the matter due to her responsibilities towards her visually-handicapped husband.
She said that she learned of her daughter’s elopement with Salem through a television report and claimed that neither does she recognise the woman in the photograph shown to her and nor has she ever met her.
