Patna High Court Stays Proceedings against CM
Bhopal — Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan earned relief from the Patna High Court on Monday when it stayed proceedings against him in the Bettiah district court.
Justice Sima Ali Khan, hearing a petition filed on Chouhan’s behalf by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and advocate, Ravishankar Prasad, stayed the proceedings in the court of Bettiah chief judicial magistrate.
The Bettiah court, on a complaint filed by one Murad Ali, had on Nov. 11 ordered the registration of a case against Chouhan for a controversial statement in Satna on Nov. 6.
Prasad maintained that Chouhan has already clarified his stand on the matter and denied having made any remarks against Biharis.
