Now Drop Box for Consumer Complaints

Bhopal. Principal Secretary Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Shri K.C. Gupta reviewed the preparations for the World Consumer Protection day programme at the Mantralaya today. Commissioner Shri Faiz Amhed Kidwai and other officials were also present.

Principal Secretary Shri Gupta said that lectures by experts should be organised to give information about laws and rules related to consumer protection to the consumers. Consumer Protection related lectures by experts from Weights and Measures, Power, Food and Medicine, Telecommunication and Banking sector should be included in the programme. He said that drop box should be kept at the programme venue so that consumers can drop in their complaints. The complaints should be redressed in coordination with the concerned departments.

Principal Secretary Shri Gupta said that organisations working for consumer protection will be awarded for outstanding work on the occasion of World Consumer Protection Day on March 15. He said that the state government has increased the amount of State and Division level award money which is given away to voluntary organisations and individuals for their significant contribution in the field of consumer protection every year.

At the state level, the first prize has been raised to Rs one lakh 11 thousand from Rs 30 thousand, second prize has been raised from Rs 20 thousand to Rs 51 thousand and the third prize from Rs 10 thousand to Rs 25 thousand.

At the division level, the first prize has been increased to Rs 21 thousand from Rs 6 thousand, second prize to Rs 11 thousand from Rs 4000 and third prize to Rs 5 thousand from Rs 2 thousand.
