Negligence in Janani Express functioning not to be tolerated

Bhopal: All Chief Medical and Health Officers in the state have been directed to pay constant attention to better conduct of Janani Express scheme. The Public Health & Family Welfare Department has directed all CMHOs to direct all operators of Janani Express to ensure availability of vehicles and drivers for transporting patients. In case of any negligence in the work, Janani Express operators will be held responsible and strict action will be taken against them.
In one of the cases, the Health Department has found vehicle driver guilty and imposed fine on operator of that Janani Express vehicle. The operator was made to pay compensation worth Rs. one lakh to the kin of deceased woman. The pregnant woman was admitted to primary health centre, Damora in Rewa district last year from where she was referred to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. The woman could not be shifted there due to absence of driver in Janani Express vehicle and died. Taking a serious note of the incident, the Health Department directed to draw lesson from it and ensure necessary alertness and discharge of duty with responsibility at all places in future.
