Need to change the discrimination between men-women : CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that there is need to change the scenario of discrimination between men and women. It is necessary to oppose misconceptions about women. Beti Bachao Abhiyan is being implemented for strengthening this voice of opposition. Shri Chouhan was addressing the 16th Tejaswini award ceremony at Ravindra Bhavan here today. Bharatiya Janata Party president Shri Nitin Gadkari was the chief guest at the function.

Water Resources Minister Shri Jayant Malaiya, Culture Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma and state BJP president Shri Prabhat Jha were also present on the occasion. At the function, collection of editorials published in Tejaswini magazine entitled “Bhumija” was also released.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that future will be secure only when daughter is saved and makes progress. A conference of over one lakh women and girls is being organised at Gwalior on November 19 under the efforts to create mass awareness towards ending discrimination against girls in society. This campaign will be conducted from Rani Laxmi Bai’s birth anniversary November 19 to Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia’s birth anniversary. He said that mother power starts wheat males’ capability ends. When deities used to become helpless then mother power protected them. Referring to great women of the country, he threw light on women power’s capabilities and abilities. He said that discrimination against anyone is improper.

BJP national president Shri Nitin Gadkari stressed the need to increase self-confidence among women. They can give best contribution in all the spheres of life including science, spiritualism, environment etc. Women will have to move ahead with full capacity and willpower. He said that mindset of society will have to be changed, if country is to be changed. Efforts will have to be made for nation-building with full capacity and positive thinking by forgetting bygone differences of gender, caste, religion and region, he added. Shri Gadkari said that India is moving towards becoming world’s super power. Country of 21st century can be built with value-based education and modern science. Lauding Tejaswini’s women awakening efforts, he stressed the need to continue them.

In the welcome address, Dr. Sudha Malaiya informed that Tejaswini magazine has completed 20 years of publication. She informed that this is 16th year of Tejaswini award distribution ceremony. So far, famous personalities working in various spheres of society have been honoured with awards.

At the function, Tejaswini awards were bestowed on Smt. Sushila Bhandari, Sushri Blenda Right, Sushri Tracy Thomas and Smt. Laxmi Newton. They were given Rs. 11 thousand each, shawl, coconut and mementoes.

Kumari Puja Malaiya proposed a vote of thanks. Shri Nitin Nandgaonkar conducted the proceedings while Shri and Smt. Malaiya welcomed the guests. The function started with lighting of lamp by the guests. It was preceded by singing of Vande Matram.
