MPHRC Seeks Factual Report on Chhattarpur Sisters’ Suicide

The Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) has asked for factual reports on suicide by two sisters in Chhattarpur district and on burning alive of a Dalit woman in Shivpuri district, and instructed free legal and financial assistance to affected families, said an official release.

Taking cognizance of the suicide by Chattarpur sisters, the commission wrote to district collector and SP and asked them for factual report on the incident within two weeks.

The commission instructed free legal and financial assistance to the affected family after holding a meeting of the advisory committee constituted for aiding the crime-affected persons.

The commission expressed hope that SP would ensure proper investigation into the case in which two policemen are prima facie accused and take steps to not let the accused destroy evidence.

About burning of a Dalit woman in Shivpuri district, the commission instructed the concerning officers to send a report on the incidence within two weeks and instructed appropriate legal and financial help to the family of the victim.

In this case also, the commission hoped fair and correct investigation.
