MP first state to provide subsidised food grains to non-income tax payee SC, ST persons

Bhopal. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Madhya Pradesh is the first state to provide subsidised wheat, rice and salt at Re. one per kg to non-income tax payee SC, ST persons. He said that assistance in education would also be given to students belonging to these classes. He reiterated that the state government is in favour of reservation in promotion for these sections of society. Appeal will be filed in Supreme Court against decision given in this regard by the High Court.

The Chief Minister laid foundation stone for buildings of schedule caste girl student hostels at Panchsheel Nagar here on Tuesday. He said that slum dwellers will be given pucca houses. Gradually, all Garib Bastis will be made slum-free. He said that on the lines of Gramoday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan for welfare of the poor, Nagaroday Abhiyan will be launched in the state in July-August.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is extending maximum cooperation to the poor to provide Roti, Kapada and Makan. For this, government is helping them getting employment, cloths, houses, subsidised food grains, free medicines, education of children etc. Referring to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, he exhorted students to work hard. He said that free uniforms from class I to VIII and scholarships on taking admission in higher education institutions being provided. Besides, SC and ST students will also be provided laptops on securing 75 percent marks in class XII and smart phones on taking admission in colleges. The government is also bearing their fee in higher education institutions and assistance for foreign studies. He said that Mukhyamantri Chhatragrih Yojana has been implemented for boarding of the student who cannot find admission in hostels. Under the scheme, rent of room is paid by the state government.

The Chief Minister urged people to be aware of their rights and duties. He administered oath to people to discharge their civil duties. He announced to upgrade Sardar Patel Middle School to high school. Besides, names of uncovered eligible beneficiaries will be included in BPL list.

Higher Education Minister Shri Umashankar Gupta said that the state government has ensure welfare and development of last person in last row in every sector. He said that in respect of development and public welfare, Madhya Pradesh has joined the list of pioneer states.

Panchayats & Rural Development Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava, Scheduled Castes Welfare Minister Shri Gyan singh, BDA Chairman Shri Om Yadav, other public representatives were also present on the occasion. Collector Shri Nishant Warwade informed that 7 hotels of 421 seats will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 13 crore 50 lakh.
