MP Fares Better than National Average in Economic Growth: Raghavji

Finance Minister Raghavji has claimed that state will have better economic growth rate this year as compared to initial predictions.

According to accelerated predictions for the fiscal 2008-09, growth rate of gross state domestic product (GSDP) is estimated to be 8.67%, which is up by 2% in last year’s comparision.

It should be noted that this figure is also 2% higher than national average. State’s per capita income is estimated to have grown by 6.99% compared to last fiscal.

Issuing a press note in a press conference on Monday, Raghavji said that state’s GSDP grew up to Rs 1,17,772 crore in comparison to 1,08,376 crore last fiscal and per capita income grew to Rs 14, 918 which was Rs 13,943 last fiscal.

Raghavji said that state’s GDP is better than Chhattisgarh (5.6%), Orissa (4.9%), UP (4.5%), and national average (6.7%), but less than Bihar (10.1%).
