Two Taken into Custody in German Bakery Blast

In connection with German bakery blast in Pune on Saturday, two persons have been arrested as the toll in terror attack sprang up to 10 with a 24-year-old college student from UP succumbing to his injuries, reported IANS citing police.

Satyapal Singh, police commissioner, informed that two persons were taken into custody on Monday night, though the cop refused to reveal any further detail, said report.

Singh said that Abhishek Saxena, who was a student of DY Patil College in Pune, succumbed to his injuries at the Budhrani Hospital Tuesday morning, said report.

Dead body of Saxena, who hailed from UP, was handed over to his relatives, report said.

At present, another 37 victims are under treatment in various hospitals of the city. Of them, at least 2 are reported to be in critical condition, said report.

In the meanwhile, experts have said that the Saturday’s explosion in Pune shows an advance in terror technology, report said.

The police commissioner, during a brief interaction with media persons, also said that important clues were recovered from the CCTV footage of a hotel opposite the German Bakery, the blast site.

He said the forensic report of the blast site had revealed that the bomb contained a deadly mixture of ammonium nitrate, RDX and petroleum hydrocarbons, said report.

“We are still awaiting details of the composition of these materials used in the bomb,” he was quoted as saying.

RDX was also used in the used in the March 12, 1993 Mumbai serial blasts and several other terror attacks later.
