MP Exportech 2009 – a confluence of manufacturers and buyers gets underway at Indore on Friday. The event is managed by Madhya Pradesh Laghu Udyog Nigam and is organised by the state government with aid from the central government.

The four-day event is a part of the ongoing series of events organised by the state government to help promote export of industrial goods manufactured in the state.

Co-organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) the event is being held at the Abhay Prashal Sports Premises.

The event spans four basic segments, herbal products and processed food, engineering, drug and pharmaceuticals and textile products.

M Gopal Reddy, Managing director of MP Laghu Udyog Nigam, said that around 75 importers and purchasers from various parts of the country are participating in the meet.

Representatives of several export agencies and Ambassadors of various importing countries will also participate in the meet.

The organisation of such meets was first announced by Chief Minister Shvraj Singh Chouhan at the ‘Udyog Panchayat’ in 2007.

Chouhan had said that regular manufacturer-buyer conclaves could help promote exports of goods manufactured or produced in the state.

The first such event (MP Expotech 2008) was organised at Gwalior last year.

Some 136 export-oriented businesses participated in the first meet while 49 importers and nine Ambassadors from various countries, administrative and commerce officers from 20 embassies visited the event.
