Madhya Pradesh neglected in railway budget: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Madhya Pradesh has been neglected in railway budget. The budget is highly disappointing in the context of Madhya Pradesh. There were targets for gauge conversion and laying of new railway lines in the budget for year 2012-13. These too have been revised and curtailed in the new budget.
Reacting to the railway budget, Shri Chouhan said that attention has not been paid in the budget to capital investment required for expansion of railways in future.
Shri Chouhan welcomed the proposal made in the budget for setting up of mechanised motor bogies repairing unit at Misrod and skill development centre at Ratlam but expressed dismay that no attention has been paid to Madhya Pradesh’s aspirations and requirements. He said that no new train originating from Bhopal has been proposed. The state had demanded that Bhind-Itawa line should be completed at the earliest, broad gauge line between Gwalior and Sheopur Kalan, Gwalior-Pune rail, construction of coach factory in Gwalior, extension of Jhansi-Lucknow Intercity upto Gwalior, increase in the number of unreserved coaches, extension of Indore-Patna express upto Darbhanga and electrification of Indore-Mhow rail line. But all these important demands have not been met.
