L&T Bags 1635 Crore Contract from MPPGCL

Bhopal  —  Construction and engineering major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has bagged a Rs.1635-crore contract to build a 1,200 MW coal-fired power plant for the Madhya Pradesh Power Generation Co Ltd. (MPPGCL) in Khandwa district.

The contract will be executed on turnkey basis wherein L&T will be responsible for design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of balance of plant systems (BoP), the company said in a statement Monday.

BoP consists of the remaining systems, components and structures that comprise a complete power plant or energy system that are not included in the prime mover and waste heat recovery systems such as gas turbine, steam turbine, and waste heat boilers.

The project will be capable of adding 28.8 million units of power daily to the state grid once commissioned. It is being funded by the state government and the Power Finance Corp.
