Khajuraho Dance Festival Concludes

The week-long Khanjuraho Dance Festival concluded on Sunday with enthralling dance performances by international dancers, reported ANI.

The dance festival was organized by the Madhya Pradesh Kala Parishad in the backdrop of the famous temples of archaeological excellence, the Vishwanatha temple and Chitragupta temple.

The event, which aims at promoting cultural heritage and traditional dances of India, saw participation of artistes from India and abroad, said report.

In the festival, artistes performed traditional Indian dances like Kathak, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Bharatnatyam, Manipuri and Mohniattam, report said.

“I hope to be able to spread this Odissi dance, which is a wonderful art form. I want to spread it as far as possible. This dance is something, which has to be understood and explained to the people. People need to relate to it. But it is so powerful and graceful. I am sure Odissi dance will have a big future, a great future,” Ileana Seta Risti, an Italian artiste, was quoted as saying.

It may be mentioned that the Madhya Pradesh government started the festival in 1975 which captivates the world.
