Impart moral education from primary classes: CM
Bhopal: The National Education Research & Training Council and a number of states have lauded Madhya Pradesh’s middle and primary education syllabus, especially the novel initiative to include new subjects like moral education, teaching of agriculture and practical knowledge, yoga and Vedic mathematics in the syllabus. This information was given at a meeting of Madhya Pradesh Text-book Standing Committee at Mantralaya here today.
At the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that moral education should be imparted to children right from primary classes. The Chief Minister said that moral education is necessary to eradicate social malpractices. The right way of imparting education is to link moral education with school syllabus. He said that students should be imparted knowledge about great and distinguished persons of Madhya Pradesh in primary classes.
It is noteworthy that some states are adopting syllabus of Madhya Pradesh for improving their syllabi. Delhi Government has selected poem “Dua’ from Madhya Pradesh’s Urdu book for teaching in class I. The Jharkhand Government has sought Madhya Pradesh’s books upto 12th class to study them. Besides this, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka have also evinced interest in Madhya Pradesh’s innovative efforts.
It may be mentioned that lessons on importance and dignity of Gita’s gist and daughters have also been included in the syllabus in Madhya Pradesh. The Central Board of Secondary Education has lauded inclusion of agriculture-centric lessons. Initiative to teach lessons based on yoga and moral education in classes 6, 7 and 8 has also been hailed as ideal. Other states are also taking initiative to emulate it.
School Education Minister Smt. Archana Chitnis, in-charge Principal Secretary Sschool Education Shri Rajneesh Vaish, Commissioner Public Instructions Shri Arun Kochar, Director Rajya Shiksha Kendra Smt. Rashmi Arun Shami, Text-book Committee Chairman Shri Govind Sharma and other members were present at the meeting.
