Hardia Issues Instructions to Take Proper Medicare of Expectant Mothers, Infants

Taking serious note of deaths of mothers and newborns, Minister of State for Public Health and Family Welfare Mahendra Hardia has given instructions for ensuring concrete steps to save the lives of mothers and infants apart from taking stern action against those who are found guilty of indifference while dealing with such cases, said an official release.

The minister instructed Health Commissioner to have all such incidents investigated and fix the responsibility for each case.

Hardia expressed concern over reports of non-availability of medicare to expectant mothers in some government hospitals in recent days and death of women during delivery as well as death of newborns.

He said that it is the top priority of the state government to bring down mother and infant mortality rate in the state.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has included this in his 70-point resolution.

Hardia said that the Health Department has made necessary arrangements and increased the resources for the same.

In such circumstances, deaths of expectant mothers and newborns cast an adverse effect on the results we want to achieve in the health sector.

Sending information about the incidents happening during the last some days, the minister instructed the Health Secretary to curb such incidents effectively, fix the responsibility for the same and take stern against those found guilty so that such incident do no recur in future.
