Jawans Show Live Demonstration to Fight with Naxals

A number of jawans selected from different battalions of Special Armed Forces (SAF) of Madhya Pradesh Police have been imparted special training to combat naxalite menace, said an official release.

The 120 jawans, including head constables and constables, also demonstrated their commando skills in front of Home Minister Umashankar Gupta on Sunday.

For the demonstration, an artificial forest was created on the parade ground and the trained jawans gave live demonstration of escaping from explosion of the hidden land mines and surrounding naxal camps. They also exhibited the face-to-face fighting with the naxalites.

Apart from these jawans were tested with tube rods etc. All the jawans passed the tests. These commando training was given by Deepak Shifuji, who is a retired person from the army.

Gupta said that the training would be very useful and that in view of the continuous attack on police force by the naxalites in Chhattisgarh, such training has become most necessary.

The minister said that even though naxal activities in Madhya Pradesh are fully under control, people should always be vigilant and alert.

Director General of Police SK Raut said that such training would be conducted in future also. Inspector General (Intelligence) Anil Kumar gave information in detail about the training. Principal Secretary (Home) Rajan S Katoch and senior police officers posted in the Police Headquarters were present to witness this live demonstration.
