Govt. Yet to Name Governor Thakur’s Successor
Bhopal — The state capital on Tuesday was rife with speculations of the names of Congress leaders likely to succeed Madhya Pradesh Governor Rameshwar Thakur, whose term at the Raj Bhawan ends today.
According to reports, Congress old-timer Mohsina Kidwai and former Home Minister Shivraj Patil are in strong reckoning for the position, but no clear indications were available till this morning.
Governor Thakur is expected to continue till the fresh appointment is announced, the 72-year-old, however, is not likely to be awarded another term as Governor.
Meanwhile, a proposal related to appointments of over 30 governors, including that of Madhya Pradesh has been sent to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and a decision on them is awaited, said a PTI report attributing the inputs to unnamed officials.
