Govt Amends Law, Women Can Work till Ten in Night in MP

Women in the state will now be able to work in factories upto ten in night with state government amending a law to allow this practice, said media reports citing un unnamed government official.

“Madhya Pradesh government has Saturday issued a notification allowing the women in factories to work from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.,” the official was quoted as saying.

He said that that the notification was issued keeping with the Factories Act, 1948, reports said.

“It has been made mandatory that in each shift at least two women workers should work together and the company should provide to and fro transportation facility between plant and residence for them,” he was quoted as saying.

Besides, the notification asked factory owners to arrange adequate security for women workers, especially during night shift, said reports.

The state government also instructed the factories to make arrangements for separate toilets for women and crèche for their children inside factory premises, reports said.
