Government is sensitive towards the families affected by dams: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the State government is sensitive towards the families affected by Indira Sagar and Omkareshwar reservoirs. No such family would be deprived of its rehabilitation rights. He urged the people of submergence area to have trust in him and the State Government and not to be misled. The Chief Minister has directed Cabinet Ministers Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya and Kunwar Vijay Shah to immediately visit the submergence- affected villages and act for the redressal of the genuine grievances of the affected families. The ministers would proceed to the area on September 8 to take stocks of the situation and report to the Chief Minister.

The State Government has clarified that rehabilitation pertaining to ISP and OSP has been completed as per rehabilitation policy and there is no ban on filling up of the reservoirs. Looking to the good monsoon ISP and OSP reservoirs are being filled up keeping in view the safety and security of human life on priority. The filling is being done very slowly at the rate of 10 cms per day, that too after assessing the impact of each day before going to the next 10 cm. Besides, district administrations of the area have been kept on alert with contingency plan to meet emergency situations. The contingency plan amounting to Rs. 109.87 lakh for Indira Sagar and Rs. 109.78 lakh for OSP is already in place. In fact, the NBA had demanded a stay on filling up of OSP from the court last year, which has already been rejected.

The State Government has been always inclined to extend all possible support to the project-affected families (PAFs) over and above the rehabilitation policy. Recently the Govt. had sanctioned additional assistance of Rs. 13.14 crore to 192 PAFs of village Tonki and Kelwabujurg under Omkareshwar project.

It is also clarified that as per court order, only those families are entitled to demand land for land which have not withdrawn the compensation amount deposited in their bank accounts. No other PAF is entitled to demand land for land.
