2 annual awards of Rs. 2 lakh each every year in names of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitri Bai Phule

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the State Government will give two annual awards of Rs. 2 lakh awards each in the names of of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitri Bai Phule. The awards will be given to social workers putting in outstanding services in the education and social service sectors. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan announced this at Gwalior. Shri Chouhan was addressing a function held by Kushwaha community to mark 187th birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Rao Phule today.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan announced that life histories of Mahatma Phule and Savitri Bai Phule will be included in school syllabus. He said that syllabus committee will decide as to life histories of these great persons are included in the syllabus of which class. The Chief Minister also announced to install a grand statue of Mahatma Phule at Gwalior.
The Chief Minister said that the first women’s empowerment work in the world was done by Mahatma Phule. He educated his wife Savitri Bai Phule also. After becoming educated Maa Savitri Bai Phule raised the banner of women’s education in the community. Shri Chouhan said that Phule couple promoted widows’ marriages despite the then adverse situations and carried out reforms like prevention of child marriages outstandingly. Shri Chouhan said that the State Government is ensuring welfare of weaker section by following principles of Mahatma Phule.
MP and state BJP president Shri Narendra Singh Tomar said that birth anniversary of Mahatma Phule will inspire people to follow his principles. Minister of State for Home Shri Narayan Singh Kushwaha, Minister of State for Health Shri Mahendra Hardia and MP Smt. Yashodhara Raje Scindia also addressed the function.
In-charge of the district and Public Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra, 20-point Programme Implementation Committee Vice-President Shri Jaibhan Singh Pawaiyya, Mayor Smt. Sameeksha Gupta, regional and district office-bearers of Kushwah community, other public representatives and large number of Kushwaha community members were present on the occasion.
