Free medicines to patients in all government hospitals
Jabalpur: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Free Medicine Distribution Scheme at Seth Govind Das District Hospital in Jabalpur today. With this, the scheme has come into effect in entire state. Under the scheme, free medicines will be made available to patients in all the government hospitals in Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister informed that all the pathology tests will be conducted free of cost in the next phase of the scheme.
Vidhan Sabha Speaker Shri Ishwardas Rohani and Animal Husbandry Minister Shri Ajay Vishnoi were also present on the occasion. At the function, the Chief Minister also inaugurated free medicine distribution centre under Free Medicine Distribution Scheme at the District Hospital.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government wishes easy access of every citizen to medical and health services. Reiterating commitment to make available better and easy health services available to citizens, he said that the government believes that only a healthy society can form the basis of real development.
Shri Chouhan said that the scheme has been named after Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel on account of his unparalleled contribution to India’s freedom struggle and reconstruction. The Chief Minister informed that preliminary, 147 types of generic medicines have been included under the scheme, which will suffice 99 percent requirement. The remaining one percent medicines will also be supplied free of cost at government expenses in the next phase.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that list of medicines under the scheme will be displayed at government hospitals. He asked doctors to prescribe only those medicines to patients which are available under scheme. He desired from health staff to ensure best treatment facility for common people.
Vidhan Sabha Speaker Shri Ishwardas Rohani expressed proud of the Chief Minister’s humane gestures. Shri Rohani said that the Chief Minister has launched this revolutionary scheme to ensure that each and every citizen of the state gets free medicines.
Backward Classes & Minorities Welfare Minister Shri Ajay Vishnoi said that Free Medicine Distribution is an ambitious scheme. Principal Secretary Health Shri Praveer Krishna said that the scheme will be constantly improved.
Foundation laying: Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also laid foundation stone of new outdoor-patient department building at Victoria Hospital, Jabalpur today.
