Every village to be linked with roads: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that every village in the state will be linked with roads in the state in next 5 years. Shri Chouhan was inaugurating administrative building of Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation here today. The building has been constructed under concept of green buildings on 2027 square meter area at Arera Hills in the state capital.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that Road Development Corporation has added to state’s prestige by constructing quality roads. At the administrative building, he also inspected country’s first road accident response system and traffic management system. This system will start functioning soon. Through it, roads measuring 20 thousand kilometers will be monitored. The Chief Minister said that earlier Madhya Pradesh was a backward state in the matter of roads, but is now on top in the country. He congratulated all concerning staff for corporation’s efforts.

Describing roads as veins of development and prosperity, the Chief Minister said that construction of roads in villages has checked villagers’ migration to cities. He said that corporation has achieved this success through its wisdom. He also laid emphasis on use of modern technology in road construction and ensure quality. He said that expert staff of the corporation has made unprecedented achievements in minimum time due to their hard work, capability and skills. Stressing the need for completion of roads within time-limit, he said that it is possible through use of modern equipments and technique.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan felicitated corporation‘s engineering staff associated with construction works with letters of commendation.

Rural Development Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava said that this administrative building is a symbol of fast-paced development in the state. He said that once Madhya Pradesh was infamous for bad roads, but is now achieving fame for good roads. Even Government of India has shown faith in MP Road Development Corporation.

Public Works Minister and corporation’s Vice-Chairman Shri Sartaj Singh said that Madhya Pradesh has achieved outstanding successes in road, water and power sectors during a decade. Now, quality roads in Madhya Pradesh are being discussed all over the country. Madhya Pradesh will become top state in the country in the matter of roads in next 5 years, he added.

Bhopal Mayor Smt. Krishna Gaur said that Road Development Corporation’s role is vital in state’s infrastructure development. Congratulating officers and employees of the corporation for administrative building, she said that it will lead to increase in work capacity and work culture will also touch new dimensions.

It is noteworthy that Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation is carrying out Rs. 40 thousand crore road construction works. Impressed by the corporation, the Central Government has also handed over construction of 1600 kilometer long National Highways. It is also constructing 34 railway over-bridges and check-posts.

After inauguration, the Chief Minister went round the administrative building. Former Chief Minister and MP Shri Kailash Joshi, Higher Education Minister Shri Umashankar Gupta, Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa, senior administrative officers, corporation’s division level officers and employees were present on the occasion. Corporation’s Managing Director Shri Vivek Agrawal proposed a vote of thanks.
