Ensure practical measures for relief to farmers

Bhopal. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that tears will not be allowed in eyes of farmers in their hour of crisis. He directed officers to ensure arrangements for providing every possible assistance and maximum relief immediately to farmers. Shri Chouhan was holding discussions with Agriculture, Revenue, Cooperatives, Energy and Finance departments here today.

He said that along with traditional arrangements, proper relief should also be provided to farmers with a liberal viewpoint. He asked officers of Agriculture, Revenue, Cooperatives, Energy and Finance departments to chalk out a proposal in this regard and put it up in next Agriculture Cabinet so that it can be enforced at the earliest.

The chief Minister said that productivity of soybean and pulses crops has come down in unprecedented manner his year. Therefore, top priority should be attached to make timely relief available to farmers. Memorandum for relief should be sent immediately to Central Government. Memorandum should be prepared jointly by Revenue, Agriculture and Finance departments. He directed Energy Department officers to explore possibilities to give relief to farmers who have taken permanent electricity connections. Cooperatives Department officers were directed for adequate increase in fiscal dynamism to provide financial assistance to farmers. He directed to ensure continuous power supply. Shri Chouhan directed Revenue Department officers for effective arrangements for practical assessment of drought. He said that assessment on the basis of rains will not practical this year. Innovations should be made in this regard.

Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa, ACS Finance Shri A.P. Shrivastava, Agriculture Production Commissioner Shri P.C. Meena, Principal Secretary Revenue Shri K.K. Singh, Principal Secretary Agriculture Dr. Rajesh Rajora, Principal Secretary Cooperatives Shri Ajit Kesari, Principal Secretary New & Renewable Energy Shri Manu Shrivastava, Principal Secretary to CM Shri S.K. Mishra and other senior officers attended the meeting.
