No function to mark completion of 10 years due to crisis faced by farmers

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that no function will be held on November 29 on completion of 10 years of his Chief Ministership. He said that farmers facing crisis due to crops loss have been affected on a massive scale as a result of failure of rain and deficient rainfall. Under such circumstances, it is not proper for me to undertake celebrations. Shri Chouhan was addressing Deendayal Antyodaya Mela-cum-district level Swachchhata Utsav at village Jam Sanwali in Chhindwara district today.

Shri Chouhan said that a grand Hanuman temple will be constructed at Jam Sanwali. He inaugurated and laid foundation stones of 164 construction works costing over Rs. 148 crore at Antyodaya Mela. The Chief Minister felicitated sarpanchs-Secretaries of 103 Gram Panchayats for ridding villages of open-area defecation. As a token, the Chief Minister distributed cheques for loan, subsidy and assistance under various schemes to 23 beneficiaries. He also gave away forest right letters to 2 beneficiaries.

Shri Chouhan said that directives have been given for early survey of farmers’ affected crops. He said that the state government stands by farmers and they would be given relief soon along with benefit of crop insurance scheme. He said that directives have been given that entire administrative machinery should contact and benefit eligible beneficiaries under Saadhikar Abhiyan. Shri Chouhan said that farmers should change farming pattern. He informed that a number of decisions will be taken in favour of farmers at the meeting of Agriculture Task Force on October 31. He said that full arrangements will be made for free of cost treatment of the poor, farmers and destitute people.

The Chief Minister said that youths should establish self-employment. He said that attention should be paid to community participation in agriculture, cottage industry, sanitation and education for development of villages. Shri Chouhan appealed for doing cleaning around houses on November 1. He said that no function will be held with pomp and show due to crisis faced by farmers. Agriculture Minister Shri Gaurishankar Bisen also spoke on the occasion.

Zila Panchayat President Smt. Kanta Thakur, M LAs Sarvshri Choudhary Chandrabhan Singh, Pandit Ramesh Dube, Nanabhau Mohod and Natthan Shah and other public representatives were also present.
