Chouhan Missive Targets Diggy on Bijli Front

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in a letter to his predecessor Digvijay Singh called on the Congress leader to channelise his time and energies to mediate for the integrated development of Madhya Pradesh rather than indulging in politics over the electricity issue.

In reply to Singh’s letter, Chouhan said, “Your discussion, at least on the subjects of electricity and roads, is not ethical.”

Chouhan rued the fact that the Congress has been targeting him with baseless allegation since he took over as Chief Minister, he added that the recently concluded Assembly elections had proved that the ploy had failed to deliver the desired results for the Congress.

Chouhan took on Singh claiming that the State witnessed a ‘lantern era’ during the Congress leader’s stint as chief minister. And charged that the people in the state were suffering an electricity crunch due to the policies launched during his tenure.

“The way you are reviewing electricity and other departments, the situation would have been better if he had done so during his tenure,” he said.

Chouhan said that his letter was in continuum of his efforts to put the truth behind the shortage of coal and electricity in the public domain,

“In the continuity, I’m replying to your letter dated March 6. Each and every department tables its annual report in the House, thus there is no question of presenting false figures,” he added.

Hitting Singh where it hurt, Chouhan threw some direct questions at the Congress leader.

“Can you tell the people of Madhya Pradesh why no thermal power unit commenced during your tenure?” quizzed Singh before adding: “We (BJP state government) started expansion works at Sanjay Gandhi and Amarkantak thermal power units. In June 2008, an expanded unit of 500 MW was commissioned in Birsinghpur plant.”
