Chouhan Blames Centre for Short Supply of Sugar to State

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has blamed the central government for supplying less than allotted quota of sugar to the state for distribution through fair price shops this year.

Chouhan said that there is deficit of 55,000 tonne of sugar in supply which is equal to three months’ quota.

He was reviewing the performance of the food, civil supplies and consumer protection department.

The chief minister also blamed the mills for not dispatching sugar to the state, though the central government had issued the allotment letter after he took up the matter with Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar.

Chouhan directed the food department officials to regularly monitor the arrangements for securing the prescribed quota of essential commodities.
