BMC Budget 2010 Highlights

Highlights of budget presented in the Bhopal Municipal Corporation on Tuesday are as follows:

a)    A deficit budget of Rs 51.58 crore
b)    Water cess hiked up from existing Rs 60 to Rs 180 per month
c)    Corporator fund increased from from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh
d)    Rs 1 crore kept as the quota of Mayor and BMC chairman
e)    The road maintenance fund for every ward has been raised to Rs 2 lakh
f)    A sum of Rs 2 crore kept for the development of old city
g)     Rs 1 crore for development of slaughterhouse
h)    An increase of 20 percent in the existing license fee
i)    Nomination fee of Rs 2,000 waived for women
j)    Pari Bazaar – a market for women to be developed with Rs 1 crore
k)    Rs 10 crore reserved for development to flyover
l)    Rs 30 crore for developing ideal street on the verge of Link Roads
m)    Rs 5 crore kept for the development of multi level parking
n)    Rs 1 crore for constructing a fire brigade station
o)    Development of hawkers’ corner in the city
p)    Rs 75 lakh for beautification and maintenance of VIP Road
q)    Rs 4 crore for development and maintenance of parks
r)    Uniforms for BMC officials costing Rs 35 lakhs
s)    Rs 4 crore for proposed foot over bridges in busy places of the city
t)    Constructing water tanks under JNNURM project
u)    Rs 1 crore for improving water supply system in the city
v)    A reward of Rs 11 thousand for the girl student coming first in the merit list
