Bhupesh is ‘king of disorder’, says Raman
BJP national vice-president Raman Singh, who served Chhattisgarh as Chief Minister for 15 consecutive years, made a stinging remark against his successor Bhupesh Baghel, terming him ‘king of disorder’ for carrying out an agenda of political vendetta and repeatedly reshuffling top officers.
“He (Baghel) is behaving like a ‘king of disorder’, he has not settled down in his job as Chief Minister and even not allowing bureaucrats and police officers to settle down,’’ Singh remarked in an interview with The Pioneer. Singh was referring to a spree of “unreasonable transfers” of IAS and IPS officers since Baghel took charge as CM on December 17, 2018.
He said, “there is a total chaos in State’s administrative and police set up, the State has witnessed a spree of transfers and retransfers right from DGP to SP level since Congress came to power. Several officials were even retransferred within weeks, which show how Bhupesh Baghel functions,’’.
He added, “as far as my understanding goes, these senseless transfers of top officers were made because the Chief Minister expects from bureaucrats and police officers to carry out his political agenda against Opposition leaders and certain top officers’’.
The Congress which was voted to power late last year with a massive mandate, has though delivered its prime pre-poll promise of writing off farm loan of 16.65 lakh farmers, but the Government has so far largely hit headlines for mind-boggling transfers and suspension of top officers. Baghel has also formed Special Investigation Teams (SIT) to probe into alleged scams of previous BJP government.
In a latest of such transfers, the Congress government has come under severe criticism for transferring Naxal-hit Sukma district police chief Jitendra Shukla who literally refused to obey a written instruction of Industry Minister Kawasi Lakhma regarding transfer of a Thana In-charge (TI). Shukla has strongly resisted his transfer order through a post on social media.
The ayurvedic doctor-turned politician, Singh claimed that the BJP-led NDA would retain power at the Centre as Rs the nation’s mood is entirely with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’.
“Modi regime has heralded a new era of hope and development in the country, people will surely hand over a larger mandate to the NDA in April-May general elections,’’ the 66-year-old politician remarked, adding he would strive to help party win all 11 Lok Sabha seats from Chhattisgarh, which goes to polls in three phases in April. BJP had won 10 seats in 2014 polls.
Singh ducked a question on whether he would contest Lok Sabha polls from Rajnandgaon seat as it has been widely speculated in Chhattisgarh. “Let’s party decide, I don’t have any desire (to contest) and even party has not indicated anything so far,’’ Singh opined.
