Bajrang Dal tries to enter Congress office: Protesters clash with police in Balaghat; Congress president’s effigy burnt

After Jabalpur, workers of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad created ruckus at the Congress office in Balaghat as well. The protesters took out a rally and reached the Congress office. Where the effigy of Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge was burnt. Meanwhile, some workers tried to attack the Congress office. On trying to stop them, the protesting workers clashed with the police. After this, the police chased them using mild force.

 

In fact, in its manifesto released for the Karnataka elections, the Congress has talked about banning the Bajrang Dal. Bajrang Dal workers are angry about this. Earlier on Thursday, Bajrang Dal broke into the Congress office in Jabalpur and ransacked it.

VHP and Bajrang Dal workers took out a rally from the excellent school grounds and reached in front of the District Congress office via Ambedkar Chowk, Kali Putli Chowk, Hanuman Chowk via Main Road. Hanuman Chalisa was recited here. After this, the VHP and Bajrang Dal workers who were trying to enter the district Congress office were chased away by the police. Bajrang Dal and VHP burnt Kharge’s effigy while raising slogans against Congress at Hanuman Chowk.

A large number of policemen were deployed. In view of the opposition of VHP and Bajrang Dal, Additional Superintendent of Police Vijay Dabur and City Superintendent of Police Anjul Ayank Mishra were themselves present on the spot. A large number of policemen including Kotwali police station in-charge Kamal Singh Gehlot, Bharveli and rural police station in-charge were deployed with them.

Following the uproar, a large number of police forces were deployed in front of the office.

Congress officials reached the police station and lodged a complaint.

After the attack on the Congress office, MLA Sanjay Singh Uike, former MLA Madhu Bhagat, party vice-president Jugal Sharma, Bhim Fulsinghe, Mahila Congress President Rachna Lilhare, City Congress Committee President Shyam Panjwani, Youth Congress President Tabrez Khan and other leaders reached Kotwali. These people have demanded to register a case against 50-60 unknown protesters including VHP city president Sushil Thakur, Shanki Jaiswal, Mayank Thakur, Bobby Mishra, Pintu Dohre, Nishu Kaushal, Chhotu alias Shubham Shrivas, Vivek Giri, by making a written complaint. The police have said that further action will be taken after probing the matter.
