Action plan to be made for better transport facilities in state
Bhopal : Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed to chalk out a detailed action plan for improving traffic arrangements in the state and incorporate in it better transport facilities, maintenance, repairs and improvement of bus stands. He directed to present this action plan at August 27 meeting. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was reviewing activities of Transport Department here today. Transport Minister Shri Jagdish Deora, Minister of State Shri Narayan Singh Kushwaha and Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram were also present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that special attention should be paid to passengers’ amenities in the plan to be chalked out for improving transport arrangements. He directed that registration and licensing procedures at transport offices of the state should be simplified. A plan should be chalked out to eradicate activities of agents at transport offices. He said that driving licences should be given after proper driving tests. He directed that at the time of issuing vehicle permits, special attention should be paid to unemployed youths under various schemes. He congratulated the Transport Department for exceeding revenue collection target.
It was informed at the meeting that the Transport Department recovered revenue worth Rs. 319 crore during the last quarter, which was 114 percent of the target. Integrated check-posts are being constructed at 20 places of the state. Vacant posts in the department are being filled up through Professional Examination Board. A Rs. 40 crore plan has been chalked out for construction of RTO Buildings at Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur. The department has prepared a proposal to take services of remaining in-service eligible employees of the State Road Transport Corporation on deputation. At present, 86 percent vehicle tax is being deposited online. Earlier, it was 77 percent. Online applications for driving licence are being accepted in Indore and Jabalpur. The department is chalking out a computerised time-table for buses operating on main roads of the state.
It was informed at the meeting that a scheme has been prepared to open Driving Training Institutes for commercial licence under PPP mode with I.T.Is and big auto companies. Additional Chief Secretary Shri Antony J.C. D’sa, Principal Secretary Finance Shri Ajay Nath, Secretary to Chief Minister Shri S.K. Mishra, Transport Commissioner Shri S.S. Lal and other departmental officers were present on the occasion.
