Madhya Pradesh tops in agriculture growth in country

Bhopal : Madhya Pradesh stood first in the country by achieving about 18 percent agriculture growth rate during year 2011.12. The State finished second in economic growth rate (GSDP). Madhya Pradesh achieved 11.98 percent economic growth rate during 2011-12. Madhya Pradesh is the only state in the country which finds it place in first four, in all the components of GSDP in 11th Five-Year Plan.

Per capita income increases : The per capita income in Madhya Pradesh has increased by 19.89 percent to Rs. 38 thousand 669 (at current prices) in year 2011-12 compared to last year.

It may be mentioned that Madhya Pradesh’s economic growth rate during the 11th Five-Year Plan (2007-08 to 2011-12) was 10.20 percent whereas the All India average was just 7.67 percent. During year 2011-12, Madhya Pradesh’s economic growth rate stood at 11.98 percent against the All-India average of 6.48. Madhya Pradesh’ economic growth rate in primary sector during 11th Five-Year Plan was 8.45 percent, in secondary priority sector 9.82 percent and in tertiary priority sector 11.35 percent compared to All-India average of 2.51 percent , 6.83 percent and 9.91 percent, respectively.

Madhya Pradesh achieved 9.04 percent agriculture growth rate during 11th Five-Year Plan against national level average of 2.48 percent. Madhya Pradesh’s growth rate in construction sector was 13.03 percent during 11th Five-Year Plan against national average of 6.81 percent. During year 2011-12, Madhya Pradesh achieved about four times more growth rate in construction sector which was 16.81 percent against the All-India average of 4.79 percent.
