Don’t heed rumors : Home Minister
Bhopal: Home Minister Shri Umashankar Gupta reviewed law & order situation at Mantralaya here today in view of ensuing festivals. Shri Gupta cautioned against rumours aiming at disturbing harmonious atmosphere of the state. He said that people should immediately inform the police when they receive such SMS. Shri Gupta said that such SMS should not be forwarded.
The Home Minister said that meetings of peace committees should be held at police station level. Concerning SDM should remain present at this meeting. He said that prompt and strict action should be taken against rumour-mongers trying to disturb peace. Shri Gupta directed higher officers to maintain constant watch over situation.
In view of some people spreading rumours through social networking sites, the Home Minister said that a demand will be raised with the Central Government to block such sites.
Additional Chief Secretary Home Shri I.N.S. Dani, Director General of Police Shri Nandan Dube and Additional DGP Intelligence Shri Vivek Jauhri were also present on the occasion.
