12, 315 Bore Cartridges Recovered from Pond in Chh’garh

At least 300 cartridges were found in a pond in Durg district of Chhattisgarh, said police.

Superintendent of Police Deepanshu Kabra said that 270 cartridges were fished out from the pond, located near Chauranda village, last evening.

He said that the cartridges were kept in gunnybags. The cartridges were of 12 and 315 rifles largely used by naxals.

Police suspect the Naxals may have dumped the cartridges and the bags came to people’s attention due to the dipping water level in the pond.

On June 2, some weapons and over 3,000 cartridges were found dumped in a well in a village in the same district, about 30 from here.

After the twin recoveries, police have intensified search operation in the nearby areas.
