MP Inks Tiger Conservation Pact with Centre

The Madhya Pradesh Government has inked an agreement with the Centre for the conservation of big cats to avail funds for the six tiger reserves in the state, say media reports appearing on Tuesday.

Madhya Pradesh now joins 16 other tiger-range states in the country that are already party to the agreement that have already earned central funds, to boost conservation and protection of the endangered wild cats, in the current fiscal.

The Centre had staggered release of funds to Madhya Pradesh after it expressed reservations over certain clauses of the pact.

According to agencies the pact, with the Centre through National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA),  was finally inked two weeks ago.
