INLD Calls For President’s Rule in Haryana

Casting aspersions over the holding of free and fair elections under the present Congress caretaker government in the state, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) on Sunday called for the imposition of President’s rule in Haryana.

“In view of the gross misuse of official machinery… it has become imperative to take away the charge from the caretaker government and bring the state under the President’s rule,” alleged top INLD leader and Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Singh Chautala.

“The partisan attitude of the present government has clearly shown that free and fair elections are not possible under this regime,” he claimed.

“Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has realised that the Congress would not return to power so all offices were made to function even Saturdays and Sundays and files were being cleared in back dates to benefit the favoured people,” he contended.

The state cabinet headed by Chief Minister Hooda on Friday unanimously recommended the dissolution of the state assembly, paving the way for Assembly elections to be held several months ahead of schedule.

The recommendation was later approved by Governor Jagannath Pahadia, the legislative polls in the state are now likely to be held in October.
