Bomb Blast in Multan, 12 Dead

As many 12 people were killed and many others injured as a bomb was blown off near an intelligence office in the central city of Multan.

According to police, explosion severely damaged buildings. Reports said that one damaged building belongs to the country’s main spy agency, the Inter Services Intelligence.

US Defence Secretary Robert Gates had earlier said that the US was prepared to give Pakistan more assistance in fighting Taliban and al-Qaida.

During his flight to Kabul, Gates told reporters that recent militant attacks in Pakistan need the government to use more force against those militants.

He said that the US wanted to help win that battle and would expand its military support at ‘any pace that (Pakistan) are prepared to accept.

In past few days, many terror attacks have occurred in Pakistan. 60 people were killed and over 140 wounded on Monday in two Pakistani cities in bombings.

Lahore was then rocked by twin bomb explosions that killed at least 48 people in a busy market crowded area.

Yesterday, 10 people were killed in bombing in Peshawar outside a courthouse.

There have been no claims of responsibility for the attacks.

President Asif Ali Zardari condemned both attacks and said that such violence will not deter the government’s resolve to fight terrorism.
