Embrace sports, shun drugs: CM

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday called upon       children to get into various sports activities and to keep a safe distance from drugs.

Baghel said this while inaugurating a workshop on ‘Prevention, Challenges and Solution to the Problem of Drug Addiction in Children’ to mark the foundation Day of the Chhattisgarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR).

He also launched the new website of the Commission

Baghel said children often copy the actions of the grown-ups around them. Hence, it is the responsibility of the elders to create a healthy environment and set an example so that children don’ get attracted to drugs.

He released brochures and a pamphlet to create mass awareness about the  ill-effects of drugs.

Baghel also expressed concern over the addiction among the young to the mobile phone. He said the pandemic, when children could not go out of the house, was to largely blame for this.

“The violent online games and mature content on Internet adversely affects their mental health.”

But he told parents that if they wanted to keep their children away from the mobile, they must engage them in entertaining        activities that keeps them physically and mentally healthy.

The Chairperson of the Commission, S. Netam, detailed the steps taken by the body to protect children.
